WEEK 2 WELCOME
A warm welcome back to all families and students as we embark on this 2025 school year, we hope everyone was able to enjoy some rest and play over the break and are ready for another great year ahead. May it be a year filled with learning, growth, enriching experiences, new friendships and lasting memories for all students in our St Joseph’s school community.
A special welcome to our new families joining our community this year, and all our beautiful Kindergarten families.
MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENT INTERVIEW & BEST START ASSESSMENTS
During Week 1, students from Years 1 to 6 participated in the Mathematics Assessment Interview (MAI). This one-on-one assessment provided valuable insights into each child’s mathematical thinking, helping teachers tailor their teaching to best support student learning.
Additionally, our Kindergarten students engaged in the Best Start Assessment, which offered teachers an early understanding of their literacy skills. This important assessment helps set the foundation for learning and ensures each child receives the support they need from the very beginning of their school journey.
A sincere thank you to our parents for allowing our teachers the time to conduct these assessments. Your support enables us to better understand and respond to your child’s learning needs.
OPENING SCHOOL MASS
Tody we celebrated a beautiful Opening School Mass led by our Year 6 School Leaders. They did a terrific job helping out with the ministries involved, and we also celebrated the official induction of our four School Captains for 2025.
We congratulate: Evie Brady, Claire Meehan, Kieran Tolman and Buddy Moorehead.
YEAR 2 CHEMISTRY
Year 2 began the year by transforming into chemists. They learnt to identify that when materials are combined, their appearance can change. Everyone had a great time mixing substances together to make their very own batches of PlayDoh.
6T ARE SPREADING THE LOVE
6T has been set the challenge of spreading kindness during the month of February. If they show gratitude, perform a random act of kindness or give a compliment each student can initial the respective coloured heart to add to their kindness jar.
